Video Transcript:
After the tooth has been examined and prepared for treatment, the Cerec procedure will begin using a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create an optical impression.
This digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures.
Computer-aided design software allows us to design every precise detail of your restoration and allows us to customize the shape to exactly fit your specific clinical needs. Once the design is complete, it is sent electronically to our milling chamber. While you wait approximately 15 minutes, your all ceramic color-matched restoration is created.
Your new restoration is fitted, polished, and bonded for performance. Your new tooth is restored back to its natural form, function, and beauty. Cerec one visit dentistry.

CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) has revolutionized the process of fabricating dental restorations. With this advanced system, we’re able to use CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) to create dental crowns, inlays, onlays, and bridges right on our office. This means instead of waiting weeks for crowns to be milled by an off-site dental laboratory and sent back to us for placement, your restorations are made right here in our Wall Street dental practice, usually on the same day as your initial visit. With same-day crowns, you don’t need to make multiple trips to our office and you don’t have to fuss with a temporary crown while waiting for your permanent one to be ready for placement.
Here’s how our same-day crown service works:
We use the CEREC® Omnicam to make digital impressions of your teeth. Digital impressions using this small camera take minutes to create, making them faster and more comfortable than traditional impressions made with impression material. These digital impressions are also much more accurate, allowing us to get exact measurements of your entire mouth to make sure that your restoration will fit your tooth perfectly.
Once we’ve taken the digital impressions, we send them to our computer, where we use 3D technology to analyze how your restoration will interact with your other teeth and then design the restoration to our precise specifications using CAD/CAM technology.
Next, the dental crown that we’ve designed is sent to our in-office milling machine, which uses a solid piece of tooth-colored composite resin or ceramic material to carve your restoration. The result is a crown that is durable, aesthetic, functional, and well-fitted––the perfect combination of form and function. We bond the restoration to your tooth using a special dental cement, then cure it with an ultraviolet light. After we place your crown, you’ll be able to leave our office and enjoy your beautiful new smile.
CEREC same-day crowns look, feel, and function just like natural teeth. They last a minimum of 10 to 15 years, but may last much longer with exceptional care.
